Company of Four

The Company of Four are a highly acclaimed amateur musical society based in Suffolk.

Created in 1972, the group has around 300 members at any one time and have staged impressive musicals, song and dance shows and an annual pantomime, usually – but not exclusively – in Woodbridge ever since.

They approached Satsuma in 2022 for help promoting their production of Goodnight Mister Tom at the Seckford Theatre and have continued to use us to promote their subsequent shows including the February half term pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at The Riverside Theatre in Woodbridge.

Work Included

We have taken over the Facebook posts for the Company of Four for the last year, running all show promotions with graphic posts and social media paid-for advertising.

In addition we have run PR campaigns to promote ticket sales, producing a number of press releases that have achieved coverage in all local press, including an interview on BBC Radio Suffolk and two full-page features in the East Anglian Daily Times.

Among these was a piece on Woodbridge boy Nathan Hawes, a pupil at Kyson Primary School, who was cast as William Beech in David Wood’s stage adaptation of Michelle Magorian’s highly-emotional wartime-based novel. Goodnight Mister Tom.

We arranged for Nathan, 10, to be interviewed by BBC’s Wayne Bavin about the production, which tells the unforgettable story of one poor, neglected boy who is evacuated to the countryside at the start of the Second World War.

He was joined by the director of the show, Oliver Fosker.

In a second piece of media coverage we approached West End and Broadway star Gavin Lees, who first performed on stage at the age of eight with the Company of Four and went on to become a Olivier and Tony award-nominated actor.

Gavin was interviewed from his home in the US, sending the young cast a personal note telling them to “break a leg”.

Our work on the pantomime has included a full photoshoot with branded graphic posts.

Outcomes

As well as extensive coverage we helped achieve a sell out run of Goodnight Mister Tom. We continue to promote the pantomime which is also set for a record number of ticket sales for the production company.
